THE ONLY SOLUTION AT MIDDLE AGE, IS A LIFE STYLE CHANGE.

As we grow older, say from 40 years up to 65. There is nothing better than a total life style change to preserve us and keep us healthy.

After 40 if a person still wants to keep living like a child, he or she might not make it passed middle age. If however such individuals make it, while living like children, then they might suffer a lot of health problems as they age.

One of the first things someone over forty years should consider, will be a life of moderation.

Drink moderately, eat healthy and wisely, sleep enough and don't deprive yourself of sleep because of partying, hanging out and all such youthful desires and occupations.

Regular exercises should not be missed. Because at the age of forty and above the vital organs of a human being will need some aiding to function properly through exercising.

Any man or woman who after 40 still consumes alcohol like a little boy or girl and indulge freely in all the things he or she did at age 20, or say 25, does not understand that the body is no more the same as it used to be.

Many deaths, stroke, erectile dysfunction issues, heart problems, etc, that occur amongst middle age people today, can be avoided if people of this age group will just embark on a life style change.

I have seen friends, neighbours and relatives who like me are middle agers  but suffer like old men, die untimely, play with so much Viagra because of erectile problem. This ought not to be, life style change is the answer.

At middle age a lot of changes takes place in us, living us not as strong as we use to be before, therefore we can't put unnecessary pressures that only youthful bodies can take, on our aging bodies.

Eating time should be reduced to 7pm, because anything after 8pm is poison to the system of a middle aged person. Red meat should be substituted with white meat. Sugar, iced cold water, lots of salt, should be avoided. Load up on high-fiber fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Your whole digestive system does slow as you age, so fiber is very important. Consume fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, fruit, and vegetables. They will help you feel more energetic and give you fuel to keep going.

Regular check up on our blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, breast, prostrate and so on will be very helpful.
Bless you all fellow middle agers, we have gotten to that stage when we don't think of every other person and leave ourselves unattended to, think of yourself more now, you need you to stay well.

After the age of 50  one may experience many types of illnesses. But the one I am most worried about is Alzheimer's. Not only would I not be able to look after myself, but it would cause a lot of inconvenience to family members.
One day, my son came home and told me that a doctor friend has taught him an exercise using the tongue. The tongue exercise is effective to reduce the onset of Alzheimer's and is also useful to reduce/improve
*1* Body weight
*2* Hypertension
*3* Blood-Clot in Brain
*4* Asthma
*5* Far-sightedness
*6* Ear buzzing
*7* Throat infection
*stretch out your tongue and move it to the right then to the left for 10 times*
Since I started exercising my tongue daily,  there was improvement in my Brain Retention.
My mind was clear and fresh and there were other improvements too.
   1 Far sightedness
        lesser
   2  No giddiness
   3. Improved wellness
   4. Better digestion
   5. Lesser flu / cold
I am stronger and more agile.
The tongue exercise helps to control and prevent Alzheimer's disease. Medical research has found that the tongue has connection with the BIG Brain. When our body becomes old and weak, the first sign to appear is that our tongue becomes stiff and often we tend to bite ourselves.

Frequently exercising your tongue  will stimulate the brain, help to reduce our thoughts from shrinking and thus achieve a healthier body. Senior Citizens.

BENEFITS_OF_CHARCOAL!

Charcoal is one of the most disregarded products at home. We only see the need for it when it is time to set fire for Banku.
However, if you really need first aid, charcoal is something you need to have on you all the time. You might not know this but it is one of the most medicinal products you can have at home due to its poison extraction ability.
In case you never gave it much attention, this is the time to do so. Here are *13* benefits of charcoal you never thought about.

1.Preventing_Odour
Does your shoe smell bad? Just get some charcoal & put it in them. Do you have any bad smell in your room? Drop some charcoal where you suspect the smell could be coming from. Does your fridge or freezer smell? Put a piece of charcoal in it. Do you have strong body odour? Just make a powder out of charcoal & use.
Charcoal is very good at getting rid of bad smell. Ever wondered why your parents always scooped out the ash from the coal pot to pour in the hen coop or toilet before sweeping? That was to get rid of the odour.

2. Keeping_Food_Fresh
If you want your vegetables to be fresh all the time, just make a solution out of charcoal & leave your vegetables in them. Thank us later.

3.Removing_Toxins_From_Food
These days, people complain about the use of fertilizers on plants & vegetables, making them unwholesome & poisonous. If you have charcoal, you don’t need to worry about this. All you need to do is leave the vegetables in a charcoal solution overnight & it’ll take care of the toxins. If you suspect any food contains too many chemicals, just drop them in a charcoal solution for some hours & you’re good to go.

4. For_Teeth_Whitening.
If you want to whiten your teeth, pay no attention to all these adverts on whitening chemicals & technology. Just get yourself some charcoal & grab hold of a plantain stalk. Make a powder out of the charcoal, mash the tip of the plantain stalk, dip it into the charcoal powder & brush your teeth with it for a week.

5. Restoring_Soup_That_Went_Bad
Did your groundnut soup or palm nut soup go bad? No need to worry about pouring it all away. Just put it back on fire & drop a piece of charcoal in it. This will extract all the bad taste & smell & restore the soup to its fresh state.

6. Detoxifying.
Do you have a hangover out of a drink out with friends the previous night? Just have some charcoal with you & chew on it. To make it more effective, make a nice solution out of it & drink. You’re good to go.

7. Neutralizing_Alcohol
If you mistakenly did some wild mixing & feel it can knock you out, just add some charcoal to the mixture & your problem is solved. Or if you took in too much alcohol, just drink some charcoal solution & you’re good to go.

8. Healing_Wounds.
Do you have a situation where someone’s wound has become so infected to the state doctors are saying they have to cut the affected area? Don’t stress over it, get a large amount of charcoal powder & pour it on the wound. This will extract all the poison from the wound & also help it heal faster. If you have a cut & you want to treat it fast, just get some powdered charcoal & pour on it.

9. Water_Filtration.
Do you feel your water is contaminated? You don’t need all these products on the market. Charcoal can do better, just drop some amount of it in it. Don’t worry about the colour, it is safe, you can even chew on charcoal. It is far safer than eating chicken from KFC.

10. Skin_Cleansing.
Do you have pimples, acne or any skin disease you really want to get rid of or do you want a very smooth face or skin? All you need is charcoal. Make a thick solution out of it & smear it on your body & leave it on for some hours before taking your bath. It will leave your skin smooth & fresh.

11. Stain_Removal
Do you have some stubborn stain in your kitchen, washroom or on your tiles? You actually need charcoal to get rid of it. I know you’re imagining how this black stainy product can actually remove stains right? Just try it, it works like magic.

12. Getting_rid_of_a_Bloated_Stomach
If you ate or drank something & feel bloated, charcoal is the best solution to get rid of the bloating.

13. Gets_Rid_of_bad_Cholesterol
Making a solution out of it & drinking helps eliminate all the bad cholesterol you have stored in you.

14. Ulcer_Treatment

Natural face masks and scrubs for unwanted facial hair

Unwanted hair on a woman's face? Yep! Actually, it's common for women to have what's commonly referred to as "peach fuzz" on certain parts of their face, according to Healthline. Getting rid of that hair does not have to be painful or require expensive visits to the salon. There are several home remedies that may just do the trick.
Natural Mask:
This mask, shown by Himani Wright in the video at the end of the article, is made from ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen cupboard. For this facial treatment you will need 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil (get here), 3 tablespoons of wholemeal (whole wheat) flour  (get here) and water.
Begin by massaging a layer of coconut oil (get here) into your skin. Cover all of your target areas. Mix a little water with your flour. You want the mixture to form a paste, so add the water slowly until you get the right texture. Apply the mixture downwards (in the direction of hair growth) and let it dry for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once it's mostly dry, rub upwards and out.
Rinse with plain water. Close your pores using tea or toner and apply moisturizer.
Oatmeal Scrub
Another alternative, is this oatmeal scrub from Home Remedies for Life. For this scrub, you'll want to grind 1/2 teaspoon of oatmeal until coarse. Add six to eight drops of lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey to the oatmeal. Mix well and apply evenly over your entire face. Gently rub the oatmeal in circles for about 2 minutes and then let it set for 15 to 20 minutes. Rub up and out (against hair growth) and rinse with water.
You can repeat this scrub two or three times per week for maximum results.
Apricot and Honey
This simple recipe only take a minute to make and contains lots of vitamins and minerals that are great for your skin, according to Home Remedies for Life.
Grind 1/2 cup of dry apricots into a powder. Add one teaspoon of honey to the apricot powder and mix well. Apply this mixture to your face and allow it to sit for five to 10 minutes. After a few minutes, rub the mixture in circles, all over your face and scrub for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. You can repeat this up to four times per week.
Raw Honey
You can use raw honey as a natural face mask. Simply apply a thin layer of honey (get here) to your face and allow it to sit for at least 3o minutes before rinsing with warm water, SheKnows recommends. Need a tougher clean? Add one part honey to two parts baking soda and use the mixture to exfoliate.
Women have hair on their faces and necks. It's usually lighter and softer than men's facial hair. It's also completely natural. Feel free to let it be, but it you don't like it, one of these natural remedies may be able to help you at a fraction of the cost of a salon treatment.

Do you know you can suddenly go blind?

Watching a person who is not able to see, and therefore needs to be led about by another individual or the unfortunate person has to depend on a cane, to tap along the way and know where to step, you would understand why it is absolutely important that  you have vision at all times. It is reason to feel indescribable gratitude when you have vision, and also make you more sympathetic towards the blind.
Some people do get stricken with sudden loss of vision, which is a serious medical emergency, and must be treated as quickly as possible. Sudden loss of sight can be a symptom of a serious medical condition, according to a posting on post on the website of the Eye Institute. When a person experiences sudden blindness, he needs to seek medical attention as quickly as possible. Early diagnosis and treatment could help save your sight.
At Next Generation Eye Clinic, where he practices, Dr. David Ehimhen, an optometrist, told Sunday Sun that several conditions have been identified as causes of sudden loss of vision. Some of theseconditions are systemic, while some have to do directly with the eyes.
“For instance, if a person has acute glaucoma, it could cause painful loss of vision. Depending on the severity, it could cause total loss of vision. Again, vascular conditions have been established as risk factors for developing sudden loss of vision. How this can happen is like this: if there is occlusion (blockage) of either the retinal artery or retinal vein. This can lead to complete loss of sight,” Ehimhen said.
He explains further: “Again, people suffering from cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease or hypertension or systemic problems like diabetes can also experience sudden loss of vision. Some drugs can also cause partial or total loss of vision. One particular drug is Viagra, which is used to enhance libido in men. The one side effect of Viagra is loss of vision Men who take herbal preparations to enhance sexual performance are also risk and therefore should be careful about they consume to improve sexual performance. These herbal preparations should be taken with absolute caution.
Symptoms of sudden blindness
A sudden loss of vision doesn’t necessarily mean total blindness. Sudden blindness can occur in one eye or both eyes, and the loss of sight can be partial or total.
With total vision loss, the sight in the affected eye (or eyes) is lost completely, so that nothing can be seen with the affected eye. With partial vision loss, some sight may remain in the affected eye.
Sudden vision loss can include a sudden loss of peripheral vision, sudden loss of central vision, or even a sudden blurring of your vision. The sudden appearance of spots within your field of vision could also be a symptom of a more serious condition.
Sudden blindness may only last a short time, such as a few seconds, minutes or hours. However, it could potentially be permanent, especially if not treated quickly.

Early signs of dehydration — don't wait for thirst

For many, the word "dehydration" brings to mind images of a dying human crawling across the desert with barely enough energy to move. While dehydration certainly can be deadly, even milder cases of dehydration can have physical and emotional side effects, according to WebMD.

Roughly 50 to 60 percent of the adult human body is made up of water, reports The USGS Water Science School. Your body uses water for most processes including lubrication of the joints, moisturizing the skin, cleaning toxins out of your system and aiding in digestion, Mercola explains. If you lose too much water without replacing it, your body cannot perform properly.
Thirst, a signal from your body to replace fluids, typically happens when your body has lost between 1 to 2 percent of its total water supply. However, your body may need more water before the thirst signal kicks in, according to Mercola.
Dry skin
Someone who is severely dehydrated may not sweat. Additionally, dehydration may lead to dry, cracking skin and flushing, according to Everyday Health. The next time your slather lotion on those dry hands, make sure to grab a glass of water too.

Cramping
Low fluids in your car can cause the engine to seize. The same thing can occur in your body if it lacks enough lubrication: When muscles start to heat up, you may get some very painful cramps. Drink a glass of water to help reduce cramping after a workout session. According to Everyday Health, "Changes in the electrolytes, changes in the sodium and potassium can lead to muscle cramping as well.”
Headaches
Before you reach for the aspirin, try swigging a cup of cool water. Your headaches could be a sign of dehydration. Without enough water the fluid sack surrounding your brain may become depleted, causing your brain to put pressure on parts of your skull. Drink up and keep your head healthy, according to Everyday Health.
Sweet-tooth temptation
Your body needs water to release certain nutrients, including glycogen. If you are dehydrated, your body may tell you that you need sugar, which often presents itself as cravings for chocolate and other unhealthy goodies. When you get that craving, grab some fruit instead. High in natural sugars and water, fruit will help ease your cravings and get your body's water levels back up to normal, according to Everyday Health.

Dehydration is often the result of illness (especially vomiting and diarrhea), sweating, diabetes and frequent urination (often a side effect of medications or alcohol), according to Mercola. A simple way to make sure you are drinking enough water is to drink enough that your urine is light yellow or clear when you go to the bathroom. If your urine is dark yellow, you need more water in your system.

Dangers of Excessive Alcohol in Men

There is usually a bad side to everything or habit that gives you pleasure of false satisfaction.
The habit of   drinking  alcohol, starting with a few occasional sips, to drinking alone, and gulping it publicly in excess is what actually makes you lose control and end up in alcoholism. It becomes a habit, usually ending in disgraceful moments when you drink yourself to stupor.

Men are more likely than women to drink excessively. Excessive drinking is associated with significant increases in short-term risks to health and safety. The risk increases as the amount of drinking increases. Men are also more likely than women to take other risks (e.g., drive fast or without a safety belt), when combined with excessive drinking, further increasing their risk of injury or death.

8 important signs of vitamin B12 deficiency that are often overlooked

Vitamin B12 is mega important. WebMD explains it's responsible for such big tasks as making DNA and red blood cells. You may be surprised to learn that this vital vitamin is not made naturally in the body. We rely on food to supply us with enough vitamin B12 to keep us healthy.

If you suffer from Crohn's disease, celiac disease, or any immune disorder, such as Grave's disease or lupus, your doctor may have talked to you about the dangers of a vitamin B12 deficiency. But people with those conditions are not the only ones that need worry. Vegans and vegetarians, as well as people over the age of 50, are at particular risk. Here's how to know if you are vitamin B12 deficient:
1. Pale yellow skin. Whole Health Chicago explains that because vitamin B12 deficiency is a type of anemia, pale yellow skin from broken red blood cells is a red flag.
2. Numbness and tingling. Vitamin B12 deficiency has a direct effect on the nerves. Therefore, Whole Health Chicago warns numbness and tingling, as well as tremors and problems with balance, can point to depleted vitamin B12 levels.
3. Mood swings. The same neurological effects that cause tingling and numbness also impact your mood, explains Prevention. Anxiety, depression, and extreme ups and downs can all be signs of having not enough vitamin B12 to synthesize important mood regulating chemicals, like serotonin and dopamine.
4. Smooth, red tongue. Prevention explains vitamin B12 can cause the loss of papillae on the tongue. Taste buds are located on the papillae, so if you lose a taste for food and find yourself losing weight because you no longer find eating enjoyable, talk to your doctor about checking your blood for vitamin B12.
5. Eye problems. An extreme lack of vitamin B12 can damage the optic nerve. This can cause blurry or double vision, sensitivity to light, and in some cases, vision loss, warns Prevention.

6. Burning Feet. Livestrong explains nerve damage from vitamin B12 deficiency may manifest in the form of a burning sensation in the feet. Like numbness and tingling, the sensation typically begins in the fingers or toes and if left untreated, can spread up the arms and legs.
7. Difficulty walking. If you stagger or lose your balance when walking, a vitamin B12 deficiency may be causing neurological damage, says Harvard Health Publications.
8. Memory loss. Difficulty thinking and memory loss are two more neurological symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency, says Harvard Health Publications.

If you are over the age of 50, a strict vegetarian or vegan, or have had weight loss surgery, Harvard Health Publications urges you talk with your doctor about having your B12 levels checked. It's also a good idea if you take a proton-pump inhibitor like Nexium, an H2 blocker like Zantac, or metformin for diabetes.

NAFDAC Impounds Contraband Goods In Onitsha Market

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Monday uncovered 30 different banned and unregistered products worth millions of naira in Onitsha, Anambra, an official has said.

Mrs Christiana Essenwa, a Deputy Director of NAFDAC, said this when she conducted newsmen round the uncompleted building where the contraband were discovered.

She listed some of the banned products to include rice, vegetable oil, tomato paste, tomato ketchup and toilet and medicated soaps.

The list includes, among others, dairy products, hand wash, creams, cosmetics, toothpaste, furniture, plastic products, electrical cables and textiles imported in a 40-foot container.

Essenwa expressed concern that in spite of the Federal Government ban, some businessmen ignored the hazards the banned products pose to unsuspecting consumers.

“These contraband items are written in foreign language; it is difficult for consumers to know the content of the products, making it hazardous for consumers in the country.

“For instance, these foreign toothpastes contain saccharine which is not allowed in the country; the vegetable oils do not have the eye logo, signifying that they are fortified with vitamin A.

The World Bank disclosed yesterday that it is partnering with the Global Covenant of Mayors to lend $4.5 billion to ensure Nigeria and 149 other countries get the funds to implement initiatives to increase sustainability and resilience in the fight against climate change.
This is even as President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Paris declared that some fundamental restructuring of the economy is required to fight climate change.
He appealed to the international community to support Nigeria’s commitment to reducing the negative effects of climate change.
Buhari spoke at the One Planet Summit in the French capital attended by over 60 heads of state and governments, as well as representatives of non-governmental and private organisations, with the theme, ‘Climate Change Financing’.
At the Summit, the World Bank noted that its investment of $4.5 billion would ensure cities battling the increasing threats of climate change have the required funds to implement sustainable initiatives and climate resilience programmes.
According to the global bank, the partnership will help countries leverage the private sector by developing bankable business plans, structuring public-private partnerships to crowd in private sector investment, monetizing increases in land values, and designing and implementing credit enhancement mechanisms to allow commercial financing to cities.
The partnership brings together the largest global alliance of cities committed to tackling climate change with the world’s leading development institution to design and structure climate resilient investments and to catalyze new sources of capital to finance them in cities across the globe.
