Dysentry refers to repeated passage of blood or mucus or both in the stool preceded by severe pain in the abdomen.
Causes:- There are two types of dysentry - Amoebic dysentry due to Ectamoeba histolytica, a parasite and Bacillary dysentry due to bacteria called Shigella. The disease is caused mainly due to consumption of water or food contaminated by these organisms.
Signs & symptoms:The disease is characterized by passage of blood or mucus or both in stools. The frequency of the passage may vary from person to person.There is pain in the lower abdomen before passing the stools. There is poor apetite and fever in some cases. Patient feels very weak and restless.
Herbal Medicine:
The soft pulp of fruit should be taken 1-2 times daily.Yoghurt taken 50gm mixed with small amount of honey taken 3 times a day controls dysentry.
Diarrhea: Diarrhoea is defined as passage of loose , watery stools frequently.When it is associated with vomiting with or without fever it is called gastroenteritis.
Causes of diarrhoea: Diarrhoea is common in all age groups. But it is more common in children living in dirty environment.Some cases of diarrhoea is as result of infection in the alimentary canal
by viri, bacteria, parasite and fungi. Milk allergy and allergy to certain substances can also cause diarrhoea. Certain medicines like antibiotics pain-killers and medicine for cancer can cause diarrhoea. Excessive, indigestable foods can also give rise to diarrhoea.
